I do ... want to be your photographer

Firstly a congratulations is in order,

This is my friend Deanna who recently got married, She kindly asked me to be her wedding photographer for the day. I took 912 photos from about 11am to 9pm, I really enjoyed being able to capture her special day. Here are just a few shots..

 

Treasure Island - R L Stevenson and Me

A recent brief, A Penguin Book cover project...
There were a handful of books to choose from and I settled on Treasure Island (mainly because I loved the muppets version as a child) But Ive always wanted to read the 'real' book so this was the perfect chance. A tale about pirates, treasure and the sea (essentially) after a quick google search you notice that alot of the covers are of the traditional type, Im talking oil painted canvas'. So what better than a challenge to bring this old time novel up to 2014s standards.

It was easy to let your mind stray abit as you could get away with more as it was a well known book, but I settled on the idea of a sort of sea map! I liked the idea of all the different levels there are in the sea and something which represented that!

Type In Motion - Fight Club

One of my favorite projects yet! A four hour project to create motion type to a sound clip, it was frustrating at first creating this in after effects but once I'd got the hang of it I found it really quite easy and began to experiment a little.

This is definitely a process that I will use in the future and would love to experiment with!

Branding/Touch Points Absinthe

This was my favorite project so far but possibly one of the hardest. I had to take an outdated or out of use product and make it appeal to today's market, I stumbled across absinthe (a high alcohol 74%+ spirit) after extensive research I found that it was derived from three botanical plants, this then became a central theme for my brand. 

It evolved as absinth the elixir, appealing to a health conscious nation and an economic way of thinking.The concept was to sell a package that could be given as a gift, it contained sugar discs, instructions and the drink itself. 

Screenzine Cult Beauty Products

This was a project that I thoroughly enjoyed, we were able to pick the topic and after alot of thinking I settled on Beauty/Cult Products although upon reflection a more interesting and specific topic it may have helped. But never the less I was still very pleased with my outcome. 

The brief was to create a online fanzine (screenzine) on a specialised subject, my concept was to make it as interactive as possible being able to swipe the lipstick swatches down to access the pages. It was based around products from around the world.

As part of this project they also ran a Geek Club which was the teaching of coding html and css, I grasped the basics quite easily and it is something that I am still improving upon but I really enjoyed it and would encourage any graphic design student to partake in such a session.

Term 1 at Nottingham Trent University

After starting uni in September it has literally been non-stop even at christmas! I have completed several projects in this time. They have all been tailored to help me set up fir this second term, and in my opinion they have been very successful in doing that. It has been one of the most exciting three months of my life and 100% the best decision I have made. Here are just some of the examples of the work I have done in the first term.

What is Graphic Design

Recently everyone is talking about university and its getting me really excited about going now, I recieved an email the other day about starting and the welcome week. As its me we're talking about here I did some websearching about what equipment I might need, I actually found the Nottingham Trent list but I'm not sure when its from but I figure that the changes can't be that drastic. I was more concious about searching out the cheap reading material as I know that book plus equipment is going to be quite expensive, I manages to pick up the first one 'What is Graphic Design?' for next to nothing on Ebay.

Read a Penguin

Whilst in Norfolk, Wells in particular as a gift for passing my course I got given a set of penguin postcards this follows on to the fact I ordered a penguin by design book which I may have mentioned! The two have given me so much inspiration and hopefully could provide useful for university in September!

Nor Folk like Norfolk

Lack of posting again as I went to Norfolk, Hunstanton which I must say was beautiful, Heres a snapshot! The sea life center provided some fantastic images!

I also found this little fellow in an arts and craft shop its sold all locally produced items, I couldn't resist!
